Overview

Castel Monastero will open for the season on March 28 and will close November 24 2019.

Castel Monastero, once a medieval village and monastery, is now a true Tuscan retreat. Surrounded by the stunning Tuscan countryside and vineyards, just 14 miles from Siena, it features 74 guestrooms and one villa which exude a feeling of simple refinement and pure elegance, in a contemporary rustic chic style. In keeping with the Tuscan food and wine culture two restaurants: the gourmet restaurant "Contrada" where guests can have a sophisticated gastronomic experience tasting Tuscan cuisine interpreted by our Resident Chef. "La Cantina" in the wine cellar, holds the best Tuscan wines produced in the region and guests can sample local specialties. The 10000 square feet SPA offers a wide range of programs and treatments. Our Spa experience is enhanced by the indoor water area which features sauna, Hammam, emotional showers and two indoor pools.

The rooms at Castel Monastero all have outstanding views of either the Tuscan countryside, the antique courtyard or the gardens. Rooms are all unique and vary in size and offer the finest details of Tuscan tradition with a contemporary style and comfort. In all the rooms guests will find beautiful details of the best of Made in Italy, from fabrics to sofas. Many rooms have Terracotta floors and wood beams on the ceilings. All the rooms have king size beds or two twins beds, desks, and many have a spacious sitting area (Prestige, Junior Suite). The large bathrooms are all in Volcanic stone and many have separate bath and shower. Other facilities include an integrated TV and sound system complete with flat screen TV, a wide choice of films and music together with iPod dock. Many rooms connect and a few have sofa beds.

Directions

From Florence International Airport:

Once you leave the airport, follow directions to the highway A1 in the direction of Rome
From the highway, take the Firenze-Certosa (pay toll) - Please be careful, the sign is not well positioned due to road works
At the round-about immediately after the toll station, take the first exit on the right onto RACCORDO AUTOSTRADALE SIENA-FIRENZE and head towards Siena/Grosseto – approx. 34 miles
Once you reach Siena, stay on the Superstrada and follow directions to Arezzo/Grosseto and then merge onto E78 via the ramp to AREZZO/PERUGIA/A1/ROMA – approx. 10 miles
Take the exit COLONNA DEL GRILLO (the one after Castelnuovo Beradenga)
After the ramp, take rights to BUCINE approx. 0.3 miles, turn left in the direction of AMBRA/BUCINE (on the left you will find a restaurant/hotel called Il Bivacco) – proceed for approx. 1.8 miles
On the right you will find a white sign indicating Castel Monastero – immediately after turn left at the sign “Monastero d’Ombrone”
Drive up hill – you have arrived.
